You can't always shoot a touchdown every time you're up at bat.

I have a confession to make.  I wrote yesterday's post without ever actually, successfully, making those butternut squash fries.  Thus, aside from noticing the host's eyes roll back in her head upon tasting them in the video, I had no real proof that they were, in fact, delicious.  I'm so embarrassed.

I did, however, just pull a batch from the oven, and now I can honestly tell you, without a doubt in my pretty little gray matter, that these friggin things are good.  Check it:

Awwww, yeah . . .

Here's a ps to the lady who writes the 'Twilight' series: If I have to read the words, smooth, cool, and marble anymore ever in my life, I'm taking legal action against you.  I get it, he's a vampire.  His skin is different.  You painted that picture in book one.  Frequently.

You don't KNOW me!

I put a link in the sidebar for Vegan-A-Go-Go dot com because it's getting cooler outside so hopefullly everyone is back in their kitchens cooking up delishiousness.  Plus, you know, I does what I wants.

I like this site because the recipes are all supah easy and Jess is in a kitchen that looks like mine, except she has counter space. And she's not using crazy-ass appliances that no one owns.

Check it out and try the butternut squash fries.  Wicked good.

Xenu and Infedelity.

Earlier today . . .

Me: Last night I had a dream that I was on a tour bus, and we drove past a field and you were standing in the field dressed like a furry with a dandelion head yelling at some penguins to "SAY IT, DAMMIT! HAPPY! BIRTHDAY!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY! SAY IT!!!".

Ian: That was no dream.

Me:  It was because, in it, Chad was cheating on me with a 17-year-old.

Ian: She was fifteen, actually.  I had a dream about Scientology furrie porn the other night.  People dressing up like Xenu and doing it.  Dreams can be so strange.

Me: Seriously.  You were hilarious, though.  And when Chad and I saw you out the window of the bus, we just looked at each other knowingly and, in unison, said, "Napolean Dynamite'.

Ian: Eww . . .

Me: Yeah. The whole thing made me want to take a bath.

Craft Mess.

If you're not a knitter, you might not fully understand the importance of this, but I am one sleeve on a child's sweater away from not having a project.  Aside from a pair of socks that are like 50% done anyway, (and I don't think socks should be considered a project because they're so easy not very time consuming.  It's like saying all my mid-terms are done except for one open book exam in Home-Ec.) I'll be project-less by tomorrow.

Also, it occurs to me that, for as much as I talk about knitting, I don't think I've ever put up any pictures of the things I've knit.  And I don't think this blog has had a healthy dose of narcissism in a few days, so here you go:

This is the sweater that I'm just about to finish.  It's for Kiernan, and it hasn't been blocked yet which is why it looks a little weird.  I'm sending it off to his mom in a few days so she can tell me what needs to be altered on it.  I really think the colors will look amazing on him, and I hope I can get it to fit right.  Blocking will definatly help.  It's a Knitting pure & Simple pattern done in Andes.

This is a christmas stocking that I made for The Boy.  I got the pattern from Ravelry, and it's made up in some acrylic yarn that I had around the house.  It worked up in about 4 days, and was kind of fun.  I was playing with different methods of fair isle towards the end, and taugh myself how to knit so I wouldn't have to twist the yarn so much.  I really like it.

Here's a turtle and a bug.  They are crocheted.  I made them at work taking elements from Amigarumi.  they were made with some odds & ends yarns we had around the store and I think they're adorable.

Here's a scarf I crocheted using Frmhouse Yarns Bonnie's Bamboo in either the "sand" or the "olive" colorway.  I can't remember which.  I made it in a day, and used just a triple crochet stitch.  I really, really like bamboo yarn.

This is an Insubordiknits pattern from one of their monster hat kits.  It comes with an adorable felted monster patch and the yarn is so bulky it works up in no time at all.

And finally, some very sweet little booties from Last-Minute Gifts using Belangor French Angora.  Super easy, and the results are nauseatingly cute.

So, that's about it.  That's all the projects I have pictures of, any way.  I promise not to bore you with another one of these for another few months.  And even if I do, you just go ahead and get over me, because I don't see any of you writing blogs.  Well, except for those of you that I do see writing blogs.

ps - here's some upcoming projects that I should have finished by 2009:

I'd Really Rather Not Work For Diddy. But, Thank You.

Remember like, two weeks ago when I was all about updating this thing?  Remember that?  Good times, guys.  Good times . . .

So, I'm sorry if sometimes the titles of these posts seem a little obscure or random.  I usually just assume everyone watches the same television, has the same life experiences, and encounters the same situations as me.  Not that a Sean P. Diddy Puffy Combs reference is particularly obscure.  But, sometimes I get a little sporadic.  Also, back up off.  I'm every woman.

I've been knitting a lot lately.  I reckon that's because it's been so cold and rainy this month, so i'm inside more.  You know, normally I'm either hiking or hanging out downtown with my friends, but since the rain has just been so relentl- JUST KIDDING!!!!  I don't live in Vermont! Doh!

But really, I am knitting a lot.  And it has been a particularly rainy summer, which I lurve.  I've finished a sweater for Kiernan that I have to send out to Sara so she can let me know what needs to be resized on it.  And I'm just finishing up a christmas stocking for The Boy.  I have a few ideas lined up.  Stayed tuned because all of my upcoming projects promise to be just as fascinating as those little jems you just read about.

Now do you see why I don't update all that often?

Journey To The End (of My MacBook Pro)

The Boy and I spent a few days in Vermont last week, visting family and seeing some friends.  It's been really rainy here all summer, and I guess it rains a ton up there, too, but we had some luck with a few nice days.  As usual, Vermont made me happy in my heart.  Even to the extent that I could picture myself living back in my hometown without feeling wierd about it.  Which is totally messed up.

Nothing else is really happening around here.  Part of Chad's birthday present last April was tickets to see Rancid in Providence last night.  It was a cool time.  It was more of a Power Point Presentation that a punk rock show, because some guy was hired to conduct a whole iMovie situation that was projected from his computer onto a sheet behind the band.  Now, I'm no computer genius, but I'm pretty sure it's not that hard to toggle between play and pause while trying to have the images coincide with the beginning and ending of a song, but this guy was clearly not a computer genius either, and at one point, the smooth punk rock sounds of "Journey To The End (of East Bay)" were accented by a giant glowing blue Mac desktop.  Go girl.  Tim looked cute, though.  He's such a wierd mix of like, wino/developmentally delayed kid brother/three-year-old telling a story with his eyes closed.  It's the cutest thing you ever did see.  But, somehow sad.  He should join a comedy troupe.

Today we're just hanging around the house.  And by "around the house", I mean we haven't left the bed except to go for breakfast around 11.  Jammies and movies?  Awwww yeah . . . .

Ps - I'm know I'm going to catch it for this from everyone I know that reads real books, but I just finished Twilight, and it was really, really cute.  Yeah, it's the high school vampire book, and I will read all four.

In.  Your.  Face.
